Myla Rahman, a dynamic community leader and lifelong advocate for justice and opportunity. With a career rooted in integrity, collaboration, and a fierce commitment to public service, Myla has made it her mission to create meaningful change for the people she serves.
Her journey began as a Field Deputy for the late Congresswoman Juanita McDonald, where she learned the art of grassroots advocacy. Since then, Myla has taken on pivotal roles, including Principal Consultant to an Assembly Member, District Director for Senator Steven Bradford, and her current position as District Director for Senator Lola Smallwood-Cuevas.
Myla's impact speaks volumes. As a key representative for Senator Bradford, she played an instrumental role in advancing groundbreaking legislation like the return of Bruce’s Beach to its rightful heirs, the implementation of the Ebony Alert to help find missing Black children and young women, and securing resources for underserved communities. Whether it's fighting for affordable housing, economic stability, or community safety, Myla is unwavering in her belief that poverty should not be a punishment—and every person deserves a fair shot at a quality life.
Raised in Carson, Myla is a proud product of the public school system and a graduate of Banning High School in Wilmington. She continued her education at California State University, Dominguez Hills, earning a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, all while juggling family life and a relentless drive to serve her community.
Beyond her professional life, Myla is a devoted mother, runner, reader, and mentor to young adults. She serves as Secretary on the Board of her alma mater and lends her time to causes that uplift underserved communities.
With a proven track record and a heart for the people, Myla Rahman is not just a leader; she’s a change maker.
